Maintenance
This is periodic maintenance for your equipment. It can often be done after your normal business hours or on weekends to minimize the impact on your business operations. We will normally schedule this service with you in advance. Depending upon your choice, this can be billed based upon our normal hourly rates or you can contract with us for this service based upon a fixed monthly rate payable each month. This includes only this service and not other on demand services billed hourly.
Software Updates:
Check and ensure that Windows is up-to-date. Check for antivirus software program updates. Update installed software when provided with the appropriate update packages. Clean computer registry and temp files.
Preventive Maintenance:
Computers move a great amount of air through their power supplies, case, fans, and processor heat sinks. With this air comes dust and dirt. Even with janitorial services, there is dust that is drawn into the computer. At best, dirt accumulated in the computer can slow down its performance as the processor is throttled to reduce heat. At worst, it can cause power supply and motherboard failure as heat builds up inside the power supply and computer case. Computers sitting on the floor will be the dirtiest, but even computers sitting on your desk will get dirty. Computers should be opened and thoroughly cleaned at least once per year and more often in dirty environments.
Servers have very powerful fans to keep thier processors cool. Many servers have multiple power supplies which also have fans. Air must be pulled across the hard drives and through the server case and power supplies to keep everything cool. Servers, by their nature, generate much more heat than workstations and must be kept cool. Excess heat will cause reduced performance and premature hard drive failure, something that you especially don't want to happen to your server. Servers must be disassembled and thoroughly cleaned at least once a year.
